GQ Gives The GL The OK

A sincere thank you goes out to the fine ladies and gentlemen of GQ Magazine, who give the Grooming Lounge some nice praise in this month's 50th Anniversary Issue.

In addition to featuring a quote from the Grooming Guys, the magazine also pimps our Happy Ending Soothing Aftershave, saying...

"It's a thick, classic-smelling cream from the D.C. Grooming stalwart."

We always wanted to be a stalwart.  Mission accomplished.

A Very Deer Scent To Us

Looking for a little bit of useless grooming trivia?  Well, here it comes anyway.

Grooming Lounge recently starting carrying a terrific brand, Malin+Goetz.  From that brand, the Grooming Guys, traditionally not big wearers of colognes or EDT's, took an immediate liking to the Malin+Goetz Synthesized Musk.  It's a very subtle, warm scent that lasts forever and smells great.  Anyway, when one of us was spraying a bit into the air in our office to cover up a particularly noxious scent left behind from an not-to-be-named co-worker's lunch (Sophia Lan), another co-worker posed the query...

Co-Worker: "Where does Musk come from?"

Grooming Guys: "Well Francis, Musk is a sexual secretion obtained from a certain sack on a male musk deer."

Co-Worker:  "I think I'm gonna' hurl.  So, I've been spraying Mr. Bambi on myself for the last three weeks?"

Grooming Guys: "Don't get ahead of yourself Francis... this is Synthesized Musk. Pretty much nobody obtains musk that old-fashioned way anymore, as it was particularly cruel to the deer. The whole scent is made in a lab and no actual deers were groped in the making of said scent."

This knowledge regarding the origins of the original musk scent should wow friends, family and co-workers alike. No need to say thanks.  It's our pleasure.

Él Hará Menudo Más Hermoso

One Grooming Guy isn't even sure he should be breaking this news, but what the

infierno (hell). My business partner and fellow Grooming Guy was just selected to be the official Grooming Expert for the NEW Menudo.  Don't remember the OLD Menudo you say?  C'mon, they were an iconic '80s boy band from Puerto Rico featuring the likes of one Mr. Ricky Martin (of Living La Vida Loca fame - you know it's on your iTunes).

Anyway, not sure of all the details, just know that they are looking to create a new band of young guys and asked Pirooz to supervise making em' look all hermoso (handsome) and what not.  He'll be on set as they search for the band members and will be keeping them in good grooming shape. Pretty sure the search will be an ongoing TV series.

That's all we know at this time. Don't worry, we'll supply plenty of photos of the actual on-set grooming as it takes place.

What Is Wrong With Some People?

The Grooming Lounge and The Grooming Guys aren't in the habit of embarrassing people.  But, we received an information request recently that was so rude and so off-base that we just had to share it with you.  We simply don't understand why someone would send such an angry and pointless message.  Please check it out below in red and realize that some of the words have been toned down (all the four letter ones) to protect the innocent.  We have also changed the name of the author a bit so he doesn't come after us (any more than he already has): The below is not a joke, typos and all.  Hmmmmmmmmm:

Products We Just Can't Do Without

There are a ton of great men's grooming products out there and we like to think a majority of them are available in our stores or on our site.  But, as much as we might wish every guy used dozens of different products regularly -- truth is -- most men have a set of three or four "go-to" products that they rely on and are extremely loyal to. In that vain, the Grooming Guys wanted to share with you just a few of the products we use personally... ones we just couldn't do without:

PIROOZ

1. Grooming Lounge Beard Master Shave Oil: "It's really all you need to get a close, pain-free shave.  Traveling quite a bit, I couldn't do without this compact and super-effective product."
2. Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub: "I exfoliate every AM and attribute my solid-looking skin to the fact that I use this daily."
3. Dermalogica Multi-Vitamin Power Firm: "I always carry one in my pocket and use it under my eyes in the AM to reduce puffiness. Midday, I reapply under the eyes and also throw some on my lips.  Good stuff."
4. Balla Powder: "Just gotta' sprinkle this in my shorts before workouts and work."

MIKE

1. Menscience Daily Face Wash: "I've got really sensitive skin and this great-smelling daily cleanser does the trick."
2. Molton Brown Fine Liquid Hand Wash: "It's a bathroom staple in my house.  Guests always comment on how great it smells.  Then... they usually ask me to get them one for free."
3. Malin + Goetz Synthesized Musk: "I was never a fragrance wearer, but then I tried some of this.  Really subtle, but great scent."
4. Grooming Lounge Happy Ending Soothing Aftershave: "Simply the best post shave treatment in the business.  I'm a bit biased, but it's true."
