Grooming Lounge Store Window Displays

  • Look Less Ugly
Window displays at our Grooming Lounge stores are designed to really attract attention. Some people get a kick out of them while others find them a bit odd. We're fine with either reaction as our main goal is to get people inside the door to experience what the GL is all about. This photo album showcases just a few of our favorite displays. Click on the icon above to see if they're for you.

Grooming Lounge University Is Always In Session

Miss_carmen

Grooming Lounge is committed to being as much about "steak" as it is about "sizzle."  What in the world are we talking about you ask?  Well, what we're trying to say is that we strive to be more than just a place featuring really high-end wood, cool barber chairs, TV's and other sizzle-type stuff.  Those things might get a guy to visit once, but it's always the steak -- the quality of the services -- that keep men coming back for more.Mandy_at_work

To that end, Grooming Lounge is obsessed with continuing education.  Our Grooming Experts can never know enough, never be too skilled, never know too much about the latest trends... you get the picture. That's why we host training classes no fewer than twice a month.  These sessions are held in our stores and are lead by first-rate instructors both from inside and beyond our organization.  It's our way of ensuring a Grooming Lounge haircut is rock-solid... no matter who you see.

Click around to see some pictures from our most recent training session.  Thanks forPmt_cutting listening.

Grooming Guys On GMA

Good_morning_americaSure you could be catching some ZZZZ's this Saturday morning from 7-8, but wouldn't you rather watch the Grooming Guys on ABC's Good Morning America?  That's right, Mike and Pirooz will be featured this weekend when the show runs a segment about men's grooming and the types of products guys occasionally like to borrow from women.  In a related note that may or may not be included in the piece, it came to light during the interview that both Grooming Guys are huge fans of women's Secret deodorant (hmmmmm... gotta' say it works great though).

So tune in this Saturday to see how we did.  Once again, it's Good Morning America on ABC from 7-8.  You can also check out the original Forbes Article that started the story.

Return Of The Jod-I

NurseGrooming Lounge will lose one of its superstars this weekend when top-shelf D.C. Assistant Manager Jodi "The Jedi" Ross completes her GL tour of duty and heads back to her native California. The Jodi was a shining example of Grooming Lounge excellence during her stay with the company, always going above and beyond to make our guests look and feel like kings.  In the end, she decided to ditch the world of good grooming for the lure of her family and a career in nursing.  Yes... we agree that her priorities are severely out of whack.

A few highlights from the career of Ms. Ross:

  • Spilling an entire Starbucks Frappucino on her Boss's new pants.
  • Making several of our valued Spa Attendants cry.
  • Wearing a variety of scarfs for unknown reasons.
  • Developing the theory that toothpaste works in a pinch as a facial cleanser.

These facts and jokes aside, we really will miss all Jodi did for our staff, guests and business. See ya Nurse Ratchet and thanks for doing such a great job in training your replacements.

We Order Too Much, Too Big & You're The Winner

Skin_foodOne of the Grooming Guys just got hooked on using what is possibly the world's only pre-shave oil and after shave balm in one -- Geo F. Trumper Skin Food. This stuff is fantastic. It helps lift whiskers pre-shave and calms down your mug and nourishes it after the morning ritual. Just what will they think of next... a way to auction off your belongings online?

Anyway, we'd try to trumpet the fact that this two-in-one will save you space in your bathroom... but here's the rub.  When we ordered it from our friends at Trumper in jolly ole' England, the whole metric system thing threw us off we guess.  So instead of ordering the regular size bottles, we ordered bottles big enough to choke a  woolly mammoth.  Yeah... there's a lot of quality shaves in these 500 ml bottles.

The big benefit to you is that we've got to get a few of these out the door (they're so big we can't store em').  To do so, we are reducing the price on these from $58 to $45.  That's big savings on a product that simply works great.  Try it.  If for any reason it doesn't work on your face (it will though), the bottle is perfect for holding open any large entrance doors or for making sure your car doesn't slide down a large incline.

Join Our Marketing Department. Not Really... But You Can Win Free Stuff

Happy_endingGrooming Lounge Manufacturing, the folks who brought you Grooming Lounge Shaving Solutions, needs your help.  You see, we think we're great at developing first-rate products (we should be, Grooming Lounge has its own working labs in our D.C. and Virginia stores), and even think we're pretty good at coming up with clever and descriptive product names (Beard Master Shave Oil, Beard Destroyer Shave Cream, etc.).  Problem is, apparently we're not first rate when it comes to coming up with names that we'll be able to trademark anytime soon with the ole' goverment.

That brings us to our favorite product name, Happy Ending Soothing Aftershave.  It's a funny name (for reasons we don't want to explain), but more importantly, gets to the crux of what the product does:  makes the end of your shave a pleasant and happy experience.  The challenge though is that we recently got word from Uncle Sam that we aren't going to be able to register it for ourselves.  Nobody has the name in the same form, but sadly, to keep us on the up and up and to avoid issues down the road, it's gotta' go. Yeah... not a Happy Ending to this part of the story.

Yet, within every adversity there lies a seed of equivalent benefit (thanks Pop) and that benefit is this:

We want your help to re-name our Soothing Aftershave. It's thick, creamy, soothing and contains tons of nutrients for your face.  Try working with that.  While you're at it, why not give us a new name for our Pre-Shave Face Wash as well.  It's the perfect product to cleanse any man's face before starting the day.

All you have to do is send your thoughts to this e-mail (info@groominglounge.com) and make sure to include your contact info. We're looking for any and every suggestion we can get.

Submit a name we end up using and we'll give you a year's worth of Grooming Lounge products on us (whatever you want up up to $300).  Give us your ideas here now!

*** Please note:   By e-mailing us your suggestions, you are giving us the right to use them, own them, print them on bottles, tubes, T-shirts, etc. without compensation (other than stated above).  Also, it's possible that you might suggest a name we already have come up with, in which case you must be pretty clever... but you ain't getting nothing.  Thanks.

Real Guys Don't Say "Splendid"

SlacksGrooming is indeed our focus, but whenever we run across tips or thoughts that can make men better gentlemen, we're required by code to pass them along to you.  That said, we recently came across a clever book detailing 99 of the words gentlemen just shouldn't say.  It made us laugh out loud and we wanted to share a few snippets (that should be one of the words) from the book:

Men should never say:

  • Dazzled:  "I was dazzled by the performance."
  • Golly: "Golly, that is a lot of shrimp for one person."
  • Scoot: "Excuse me, do you think you could scoot over a bit."
  • Slacks: "Honey, where are my grey slacks?"
  • Teeny: "This teeny adjustment to my hair makes all the difference."
  • Tinkle: "Is there a bathroom around here I can duck into for a tinkle."

There are dozens more in the divine (that's another one) book "Real Men Don't Say Splendid" by Michael Gorman.

Toodles and thanks for visting www.groominglounge.com.

Grooming Lounge In The News

Mens_health Grooming Lounge and the Grooming Guys have been receiving some nice ink lately and we wanted to share.  It's not that we are trying to brag, but instead, that we want you to know that some folks in the mainstream media think we know what we're doing and are talking about us as well.

So... not boasting.  Just reaffirming your trust in us and validating our credentials.  Actually, it would be easier just to brag (as we wouldn't have to write all this stuff).  Anyway:

  • Men's Health quoted Pirooz regarding the importance of altering your grooming routine during the summer.  See the article here.
  • Details Magazine listed Grooming Lounge as one of the top places in the country to get a hot lather shave.  See that article here.
  • The Austin American Statesmen quoted the GL regarding some additional summer grooming tips. You know the drill.  Push that mouse.
