Grooming Lounge Store Window Displays

  • Look Less Ugly
Window displays at our Grooming Lounge stores are designed to really attract attention. Some people get a kick out of them while others find them a bit odd. We're fine with either reaction as our main goal is to get people inside the door to experience what the GL is all about. This photo album showcases just a few of our favorite displays. Click on the icon above to see if they're for you.

That's Where We Draw The Line

The_barber During our more than eight years in the men's grooming business, Grooming Lounge stores have just about seen it all.  Tall guests, small guests, hairy guests, nair-y guests, happy guests and ever so rarely... mean guests.  But no matter how abrasive a guest may get, we would never go this route (it's just a bit over the top don't you think?):

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - An Amsterdam barber has been arrested for stabbing a client with scissors, the second such incident involving the barber, Dutch police said on Saturday.

The client was stabbed and seriously wounded after a fight broke out earlier this week at the barber's shop, police said.

The barber stabbed another client with scissors in 2000. The man later died of his wounds, although the barber was cleared of any charges after a court found he had acted in self-defense.

Police said they were holding the man, 42, and investigating whether attempted manslaughter charges should be brought against him.

A New Grooming Lounge On The Horizon

Construction_1It's 99% official. Grooming Lounge will open its third upscale barbershop & men's spa location later this year. Where will it be you ask?  Well, we can't reveal that just yet.  What we can say is that the new shop will be south of North Carolina. Hope that narrows it down a bit for those interested.

In addition to throwing out this "teaser, the reason for this posting is to announce a cool, new feature we'll be running on this blog.  As our new location morphs into a reality, the Grooming Guys will be chronicling every aspect of this endeavor.  From build-out, to hiring, to training to marketing to permitting, we're going to offer-up an inside view of what it takes to get a new store location up and running. Plenty of pictures, interviews, etc. Should be fun and insightful.  Of course, we apologize in advance that the drama will be minimal.  That's just not how we do things.

So stay tuned for more information about our stellar new Grooming Lounge location.  We look forward to making men in a to-be-named Southern state more handsome.

Summer Grooming Guidelines

Sun_burn Summer is well underway and we certainly hope your grooming ritual is maintaining its compusure. Just to make sure, here are few ways to stay "cool" as the mercury continues to rise.

  • Never Let Them See Your Hair Sweat: Use anti-humectant hair styling products (see American Crew) that will deflect sweat, won’t leave your hair looking greasy and will maintain your style despite the humidity.
  • The Pitts: Avoid the dreaded W.C.A.S. (White, Clumpy Armpit Syndrome) by using a see-through men's anti-perspirant or deodorant.
  • Fry-Day: Even if you’re not at the beach, use products with a men's SPF (Sun Protection Factor). Protecting your skin from harmful rays is key for any guy who wants to avoid looking like a prune later in life.
  • Talc Show: There are certain special areas where men tend to sweat a lot. To keep these locations safe and dry, try a quality talcum powder to absorb moisture.
  • Hey You… Get Back Hair!: Those tufts of hair on your shoulders and back… nah… not appealing to anyone. Visit a reputable skin care professional and get them waxed off (it’s not even that painful) so the rest of us can digest our food.
  • Tanks Very Much: No self-respecting gentleman should be caught in a tank top with a bar logo on it, jean shorts or socks with sandals.

Happy Father's Day

That's it.  Happy Father's Day.  Sometimes you just don't have that much to say folks.  Don't worry, we'll make up for this lame post tomorrow.

Just A Tip #24

Coffee_on_roofOur goal is to share information that helps men improve their lives.  While we generally focus on the grooming arena, if we have a tip or suggestion outside that zone, you can be certain we'll pass it along.  Here is one such suggestion:

NEVER, EVER LEAVE ANYTHING ON YOUR CAR ROOF AND THINK YOU'LL REMEMBER IT LATER!

The truth is... you won't.  Somewhere in between fumbling for your keys and unlocking the door to your chariot you will forget about it.  Whether it's a cup of Joe, a donut, a baby (just checking to make sure you're paying attention) or a briefcase, you might as well kiss that sucker goodbye.  It's going along for the ride, at least until you hit 25 mph.

So your options are these: Put it on the ground, in your mouth or between your legs.  But whatever you do... just say no to the roof.

Calling This Stuff "Old School" Makes It Look Young

Trumper_creamsAfter years and years of attempting to strike a partnership, Grooming Lounge is proud to announce that we are now one of the select companies lucky enough to carry the historic Geo F. Trumper brand. When you talk about barbering, grooming and shaving expertise, few companies can compete with the experience and lineage of Trumper.  To give you a little perspective, your grandfather was probably not even a gleam in your great grandfather's eye when Trumper started concocting shaving solutions in jolly ole' England. It was 1875.

Anyway, welcome Trumper.  You guys are a class act and are sure to make us proud.  See the entire line here.
