Grooming Lounge Store Window Displays

  • Look Less Ugly
Window displays at our Grooming Lounge stores are designed to really attract attention. Some people get a kick out of them while others find them a bit odd. We're fine with either reaction as our main goal is to get people inside the door to experience what the GL is all about. This photo album showcases just a few of our favorite displays. Click on the icon above to see if they're for you.

Burn Baby Burn

CandleGrooming Lounge just started carrying candles.  You heard that right... candles my friends.  Our very own Vice President of Everything, the world famous Antoinette, convinced the Grooming Guys that real men should like and light candles.  She even went as far as to say she would be more likely to date a man who enjoyed burning a good candle now and then. Since she's quite the cosmopolitan lady (heavy into art, food, clothing, music, Tetris, etc.), we figured we'd take a fly on some scents and have since started offering the Slatkin line of  products.  These candles are considered the most hot and hip candles on the market and have been featured in every magazine imaginable.

Anyway, the scents we are carrying are extremely gentlemen-focused.  They feature aromas sure to improve any atmosphere and infuse it with a little style.  Personal favorites of the Grooming Guys include Expresso and the ultra-cool Scented Rocks (flameless rocks you just drop anywhere to improve the smell).

So pick some up if you're so inclined.  At the worst, it might get you a date with Antoinette or one of her friends.

Bye Bye Biotherm

BiothermWe're sad to announce that some time pretty soon, Biotherm Homme products will no longer be available at Grooming Lounge.  Seems the big boys with L'Oreal (Biotherm's parent company) have decided to eliminate ALL U.S. retail distribution other than their own web site. At least it's comforting to know it's nothing personal against the GL.

That said, we plan on selling through everything we have left in the Biotherm line (and that's quite a bit).  But when that's done, Biotherm will be 86'd from our site and you'll be forced to choose from one of the hundreds of other just-as-good products we carry (that's the good news). We have about two-to-three weeks worth of Biotherm product left.

So if you want to stock up, we recommend doing it right quick. If you've never used Biotherm before and are a GL regular, probably doesn't make sense to start now.

Bye Bye Biotherm.

Grooming Guys World Tour

Airplane It's been quite a week for the Grooming Guys, who have been traveling from coast-to-coast over the past seven days preaching the gospel of good grooming.  We questioned whether or not you'd be interested in our travel tales -- but after some discussion -- came to one realization.  You clicked to read this blog.  You must be at least somewhat interested in what we're doing.  That said, here's a recap:

  • PIROOZ IN THE WINDY CITY:  Our very own Grooming Guru hit Chicago to act as the spoke person for a high-end line of razors that was recently released.  Pirooz tried the products and loved them.  Upon hearing that, the company flew P to Chicago where he answered questions from a variety of media wanting to hear the facts from a barbering point of view.
  • MIKE IN THE BIG APPLE:  Mike served as a panelist at the International Beauty Show, an event attended by thousands of industry professionals from around the globe.  The Panel Discussion centered on Men's Grooming Facilities and the proper way to run them.  Mike gave out some information, but not enough to let someone else get ahold of our "Ancient Grooming Secret."
  • SITE TOUR:  It's a sure thing that a new Grooming Lounge will be opening later this year in a major U.S. city.  The Grooming Guys saw a couple sites and will pick one in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned.
  • MEETING WITH ANTHONY:  One of the Grooming Guys had a sit down with the Founder and Creator of Anthony Logistics, Anthony Sosnick.  Anthony is a great guy and was a true visionary in this business.  Both of our businesses launched around the same time and it was fun to look back on how far we've advanced.

Then we took a long nap.  Thanks for your time.

Potty Talk

NatureWhen we first launched Balla Powder more than a year ago, we weren't sure just how it would go over.  After all, there weren't a lot of studies done on the potential in the male market for a "jock powder." So, we took a fly on it and Balla Powder is currently relieving men nationwide of itchy drawers and the dreaded "flying squirrel."  It's one of our best-selling products and to be honest... we're not really sure what that says about our business or our valued customers.  In the end, it probably doesn't really matter.

So, armed with our extensive Balla experience, when the guys from Ritual approached us with their new and innovative products, we thought the items were a sure-fire home run.  We took particular interest in their "Nature Calls" product, an item designed to relieve restroom odors any guy might create via "doing his business."  Yes, gross.  Yes, true.  Yes, the product works (our former Store manager Bill tested it out many times for us).  So wouldn't you know it.... Ritual's Nature Calls product is already right up there in sales with the Balla Powders of the world.

For a couple guys who set out trying to help guys have better skin and get a better shave -- the popularity of these neither-region solutions might call for us to re-evaluate our business plan.  We'll get back to you on that.

Got an idea for a new product like one of these?  If so, let us know and we'll probably name the product after you.  Just send an e-mail to this address.

Making Men More Handsome For Five Years

Time has definitely flown by.  It's amazing that our Grooming Lounge store in Washington, D.C. will celebrate its fifth anniversary this week. Special thanks to everyone who has made it possible and to those who will help us continue to grow.  A special, special thanks to the "Doc" and "Champ", two people who have been with the GL since day one and show thier dedication to our team and guests everyday.

Anyway, here's to five more great ones.  At least one new Grooming Lounge store will be opening this year and several to come in 2008.  Stay tuned for the exact locations and details.
