Grooming Lounge Store Window Displays

  • Look Less Ugly
Window displays at our Grooming Lounge stores are designed to really attract attention. Some people get a kick out of them while others find them a bit odd. We're fine with either reaction as our main goal is to get people inside the door to experience what the GL is all about. This photo album showcases just a few of our favorite displays. Click on the icon above to see if they're for you.

What Do The Grooming Guys & Nineteen-Year-Old Girls Have In Common?

Myspace_logo Everyone has heard of Myspace.com... right?  It's a social networking site that "the kids" seem to love.  In fact, they seem to love it so much that many of the younger members of the Grooming Lounge team spend far too much of their down time "making friends" and posting random pictures on the site.  That, of course, is when they aren't studying up on the latest and greatest grooming techniques.

Anyway, the Grooming Guys felt a little out of the loop.  Sure we're ancient by Myspace standards (30+), but why can't us guys get in the mix and start making some new friends, offering this group advice on how to look and feel their best. So, we went ahead and created a page.  While we have no idea what it will do for us, the hope is that it will broaden our reach and introduce what we have to offer to a whole new audience.  Just think how well-groomed and gentleman-like the younger generation will soon be.

Check out our page at www.myspace.com/groominglounge. We think you can add friends, links, etc., but  have absolutely no idea how to do that yet.  We'll probably just ask one of the young ladies who works with us.  When they are done laughing and remarking how they hadn't even been born at the time of Mike's Bar Mitzvah, we'll equip our Myspace page with all the fun stuff.

Thanks for listening.

Pirooz & The Hulk?

Hulk The appearance on the NBC iVilliage Live show went well on Thursday. Orlando was freezing and the show was taped at the Universal Studio's Theme Park there. One of the highlights of the trip included waiting in the Green Room, which also happened to be the same room the park's Incredible Hulk and Captain America get ready to meet and greet park guests... interesting!

As for the show, I (Pirooz) gave the hosts and audience some tips on how to take care of themselves.  Ultimately, since it's a female-focused show, I really just told ladies how to get their guys to be less hairy.  Grab a nose hair trimmer, trim their eyebrows, etc.  The main segment was a makeover type feature in which a guy with a ton of bushy hair volunteered to get it cut.  The audience voted for the style I would give him and that's just what I did.

Later in the show they trotted him out (albeit in an off-the-rack suit that was five sizes to big for him) and everyone applauded at how handsome he looked. I thanked the hosts, grabbed my coat and headed back to the Nation's Capital.  It was a fun trip and everyone associated with the show was beyond welcoming.

We'll post a video clip as soon as it's available.

Grooming Guy Goes National

Nbc Make sure to set your Tivo to NBC this Thursday at noon to watch Grooming Lounge's own Pirooz Sarshar as he appears on the peacock's iVilliage Live show.  Our Grooming Guru will be showing the crew a few things about men's grooming, specifically chatting about how ladies can help their guys achieve a better overall look.

If you can't watch it or tape it... no worries.  We'll post a clip on our site as soon as it's available.

Thanks for listening.

A Product Strictly "For The Boys"

Balla_powder_1 When we added Balla Powder to our product lineup nearly a year ago, we thought it was a quirky little item that might provide a few laughs and some welcomed relief for guys with sweat issues. You see, Balla Powder is described by its inventor and on its web site as:

"A scented talcum powder that is guaranteed to leave your boyz feeling dry and comfortable. Balla Powder will make clammy sacks a thing of the past and will put batwings on the endangered species list. "

That's a direct quote.

Anyhoo... flash forward a year and this is groominglounge.com's #1 selling SKU.  That's right, we currently sell more of this stuff than anything else.  What does that say about us, our customers and the need for dryness in a guy's drawers?  We have absolutely no idea.  All we can say is that guys are swearing by this stuff.  They love it and appear to be adjusting themselves less frequently because of it.

While neither of the Grooming Guys has tried it for its intended purpose, both have used it inside tennis shoes and received great results. Are you a balla?

Shave The Best For Last

Copy_of_090806_005_059 When you get a Grooming Lounge Hot Lather Shave service, more often than not, your Grooming Expert will shave your cheeks and chin before going to work on your neck area.

YOU SHOULD SAVE THIS NECK AREA FOR LAST WHEN YOU SHAVE AT HOME AS WELL.

The reason is simple.  You see, the neck area is the most prone to razor rash and breakouts.  When you "shave" this area for last, you allow your shaving cream/oil/gel more time to soak into your beard and skin.  This will help to more effectively soften the skin, loosen up your beard and create a smoother ride for your razor.

That's all we've got for today.  It's short and sweet... but it works everytime.

2006 By The Numbers

Blog_shave A lot of men became more handsome courtesy of Grooming Lounge last year.  It was a stellar '06 for our company, one that saw the addition of a new store, the expansion of our web site, the introduction of a new and improved catalog, the launch of Grooming Lounge Shaving Products and last but not least... the birth of this blog.

With all that happened during good ole' '06, we thought it might be interesting to provide some stats on the state of men's grooming at our Lounges.  We were interested to know how many guys had grooming services performed at our stores and had a hunch you might find it interesting also.  Anyway, without further adieu, here's a snapshot of last year at Grooming Lounge:

  • Imagine How Many Individual Whiskers Were Removed?: More than 4,700 men received Grooming Lounge's Signature Hot Lather Shave.
  • A Collective "Ouch" For All Of You:  Considered the most painless in the business, more than 1,900 Back Waxes went down.
  • That's 31,000 Toes:  In the neighborhood of 3,100 guys got Grooming Lounge Foot Treatments.
  • Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop: Around 1,700 Cleansing Face Treatments were provided.
  • The Final Cut: In excess of 17,000 fellas got great Haircuts.
  • Shine On You Crazy Diamond:  More than 2,800 pairs of shoes were shined.

Thanks to everyone who made such a fantastic year possible.  We promise to raise our levels of customer and technical service to exceed your expectations in 2007.

Yours In Good Grooming,

Mike & Pirooz
