2007 Catalog Is Almost Wrapped

Blog_shotThe latest edition of the Grooming Lounge Men's Grooming Catalog is set for release in just a couple weeks.  This new installment of our men's book is the largest and most comprehensive ever -- featuring more than 40 pages of the best men's grooming products and insightful advice.  If you're already on our mailing list, there's no need to do anything.  A catalog should be at your door in late November.

"Snap Out Of It"

Groominglounge_1921_11190869It's not often we rave on this blog about a product, but Biotherm Homme's new High Recharge is truly amazing.  It's a moisturizer that helps any guy "snap out of it."  If you're feeling a bit run down... it'll give your skin a burst of energy and get you back on top of your game.  We used it after our recent D.C.-area events and didn't feel like complete crap the next day (we have after these shindigs in the past).  Read more about this product by clicking here.

Now That's A Party

A huge thanks to anyone and everyone who made our recent "Guy's Night Out" events amazing successes.  At both our Virginia and D.C. stores, we had standing-room-only scenarios... but none of the gentlemen in attendance seemed to mind.  They were too focused on the gratis Johnnie Walker Blue Label, the freebie cigars, the lovely servers and the first-rate networking opportunities.

Pictures will be posted ASAP and look for more events early next year (we're still cleaning and recovering a bit).

Holy Zit! The Case Against Popping

Dont_popIt's a question as old as time.  One that has baffled man for centuries and ranks right up there with oft-debated topics such as chicken or egg or nature vs. nurture.

Just what should a man do if a big zit pops up on his face? 

After some serious soul searching and much conversation with the Men's Skin Experts in our stores, the answer has become crystal clear.

DON'T POP IT!

What these talented ladies tell us is that popping that sucker will only make the problem worse.  Bad bacteria will be shoved back into the skin, causing further infection and even more acne.  Sure, acne isn't the end of the world... if you're a 13 year old with a mouth full of braces.  But, for the rest of us, it's a problem that must be dealt with.

What to do?  Our experts say you should grab a facial scrub (it just so happen we have some here) and exfoliate that sucker away. To coax the bad stuff out you can also apply a steamed towel to the target area.  Use this combo for a couple days and you should get some positive results.

Ultimately, they say getting a professional (like them) to extract the intruder is the way to go.  But for those not yet ready for such an undertaking, grab your scrub and get going.

The Best & The Brightest

AlberteinsteinAllow us to brag a bit if we may -- not about ourselves -- but about the Grooming Experts that work at our Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia stores.  Put in the simplest terms, they really are brilliant in their chosen fields.

While developing our Holiday 2006/2007 catalog, we sat down with many of these individuals to get their take on the type of editorial content the catalog should house.  We wanted to know what types of lessons, tips and information today's gentleman is in search of.  During these conversations with the folks who provide the GL's hair, skin and body services everyday, we came to realize what an amazing knowledge base they each have when it comes to their area of focus.  Just as a lawyer knows his laws or an accountant knows his numbers, these folks know what's what when it comes to grooming.  Techniques, ingredients, things to avoid, fashion trends... you name it and they know it. We simply couldn't stump them and their ideas and suggestions are sure to make this year's catalog the most informative ever.

We hope these people and this knowledge are what really sets our company apart.  These factors provide you with the security of knowing that the advice you receive on this site, via e-mail and the research put behind our products is the "real deal". We know how to make guys look and feel great because that's what we do everyday.  In fact... it's pretty much ALL WE DO. 

In the end, we want to have as much "steak" as "sizzle."  Sure we can have upscale and hip stores, a cool web site and some products that smell good.  But unless all these parts really perform, we're nothing.  To be the real deal, our haircuts have to be the best, our skincare has to be first-rate and our products need to provide real results.

We think we grade out well on all the above for one main reason... our people.
